Thriving, not just Surviving...

Updated: Jun 5, 2020

According to the Merrimam-Webster Dictionary, thriving is a state of flourishing. They further elaborate by describing flourishing as a vigorous, graceful movement. On the other hand , surviving is “still alive”. I would rather thrive with energy, vigour, and a feeling of well-being. Everyone owes that to themselves, their loved-ones, and their friends!

So, what are our cells doing- or not doing- to make us feel like we are thriving? The body is an amazing machine. This machine has to work hard 24/7 to survive, let alone thrive! The body is an orchestrated combination of chemical reactions that needs the “right stuff” to keep working properly.

Each one of the trillions of cells that keep us alive needs vitamins, minerals and nutrients to constantly repair itself while producing energy and new cells. The waste that is being formed during this work includes free radicals. Without antioxidants, free radicals would cause serious harm to one’s well-being. However, free radicals also serve important functions that are essential for health. For example, your immune cells use free radicals to fight infections.

So, Haskap “fits the bill” in terms of being a powerful and efficient “scavenger” to attach to and get rid of the excess free-radicals in our cells that can make us feel unwell- or be unwell.

On top of that, Haskap also contains potassium to keep the communication between the cells in our bodies “firing”. All in all, getting rid of waste, and contributing to the communication between cells, and therefore, our organs, adds up to thriving rather than surviving!

Of course, being cognizant of the following aspects of life that increase oxidative stress and therefore disease, is important as well!

Several factors are known to cause excessive free radical formation and oxidative stress, including

  • air pollution

  • cigarette smoke

  • alcohol use

  • toxins

  • high polyunsaturated fat diet

  • radiation, including excessive sunbathing

  • bacterial, fungal, or viral infections

  • too much or too little exercise

Taking a VBG Haskap capsule once a day can help to control the oxidative stress on one's body, helping you to feel as if you are thriving!
